Board unanimously approves Conestoga attendance-area change to feed Sage Valley Junior High

The Campbell County School District #1 Board of Trustees approved an attendance-area change moving Conestoga Elementary to feed Sage Valley Junior High instead of its current feeder. The district held a required public hearing in which staff answered questions about sibling assignments, transfer choice for the upcoming transition year, and implementation details.

Associate Superintendent (speaker 3) said the hearing had about a dozen attendees who were primarily information-seeking; staff explained sibling protections and the process for transfer requests. The board motioned, seconded, and approved the feeder change unanimously.

Trustees directed staff to have the receiving school’s administrators and teachers visit Conestoga so families could learn about Sage Valley and make informed decisions about next year’s options. District staff said individual sibling requests for transitional alignment are typically honored under district policy and that additional communications would be provided to affected families.

What happens next: Staff will coordinate outreach and a transition plan for families and will implement the approved attendance-area change for the 2027–28 school year.
