Pulaski County delays ARDOT partner resolution after printing errors reveal inaccurate language

Pulaski County’s Quorum Court on April 28 held Resolution 26I26, which would express the county’s willingness to partner with the Arkansas Department of Transportation on interchange improvements to Highway 365 and Interstate 40, after members identified incorrect or recycled language in the printed resolution.

Members questioned whether the printed item referenced the correct locations (members noted Riceville and Wrightsville content in the printout) and whether paragraphs from an older resolution had been merged into the current text. The chair advised the court to strike certain paragraphs and asked staff to return an accurately printed version next month.

During the discussion the chair stated the partner agreement shows a county share of approximately $3,400,000 with the City of Maumelle contributing $850,000; he said the balance would come from the county’s restricted transportation funds. When asked about the county’s transportation fund balance, the chair said it was $68,000,000.

Because of the apparent printing errors, the court decided to hold (table) the item and instructed staff to present a corrected resolution at the next meeting.

What’s next: The sponsor and county staff will prepare corrected language and reintroduce the item at the next regular meeting; the chair indicated RDOT (ARDOT) would likely be patient regarding the reissuance.
