Board approves personnel recommendations, endorses appointment of Officer Shane Jamieson to lieutenant

The Warren County correctional oversight board approved personnel recommendations that include appointing Officer Shane Jamieson to the lieutenant position.

An agency official said testing for the lieutenant position occurred two weeks earlier with five candidates; "Officer Jamieson ended up testing the best," the official said, and recommended his appointment. The board discussed whether prior appointments and removals (from executive session) had been handled correctly; the motion to accept staffing recommendations (appoint two, remove one as discussed in executive session) was made, seconded, and approved by voice vote.

The same agency official reported operations items: the facility population was "right around" 80–90 people, a suspected TB case had been investigated with public health and returned negative results, overtime pressures were increasing due to training and academy commitments, and mental-health training is scheduled for June at the Hampton Inn conference room. The facility has purchased two machines to improve property handling (shrink-wrapping and labeling) to reduce loss and permit reuse of garments when appropriate. The official also said canine searches will resume randomly for safety and contraband control.

The board confirmed the motion by voice vote and carried the personnel action. The board’s next meeting is scheduled for May 26.
