Dr. Eric Beacotz, superintendent of William Penn SD, used the district's weekly "Wednesday Word" message to outline forthcoming testing dates, school events, and staffing opportunities for students, staff and families.
"The Keystone exams for our high school students will begin on May 11," Beacotz said, adding encouragement to students taking ongoing state assessments and praise for staff and students who worked on the PSSAs.
He encouraged high school students to attend Pennwood High School's annual career night on Thursday, April 30, from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m., saying students will "meet professionals from a variety of industries" and can use the event to make connections. The Pennwood High School art show will run May 4'14, with a reception and awards ceremony on May 7 at 7:00 p.m., Beacotz said.
Beacotz announced that staff and student surveys will be open May 4 through May 22 and urged participation, noting that "many impactful ideas have come directly from past surveys." He also outlined a virtual Title 1 through 4 grant information session on Tuesday, May 12 from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. via Teams to review 2025'2026 grant funds, their uses and school-level impacts; the district posting will hold the link to join.
On staffing, Beacotz reiterated, "We are hiring," and invited prospective applicants to the district's annual job fair Wednesday, May 13, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Pinwood Middle School. He said job seekers may fill out an interest form linked on the district website and can view current openings on the careers page.
Beacotz closed with calendar reminders for two board committee meetings: a property committee on May 5 and a policy committee on May 7, both starting at 6:30 p.m., and thanked listeners for sharing the information. "If it is Wednesday, I will see you in about 2 weeks," he said.
The message is a summary of routine operational updates; no formal board actions or votes were announced.
