The Sunbury City Council unanimously approved the city's annual professional services agreement with CEDICOG to administer the 2025 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG). Officials said the agreement remains at $50,000 for administration, with additional fees to cover environmental review and labor-standards compliance.
Council also heard a presentation on Phase 1 of an OPG Park renovation, aimed at rebuilding playground infrastructure and adding accessible parking, sidewalks and a water-themed play area geared toward children 12 and under. Presenters said they are pursuing a $250,000 grant for Phase 1 and described phasing the project over multiple years; estimated total costs for all phases could be roughly $3 million depending on final design and partner funding.
Project organizers circulated a sign-up sheet asking for public support to strengthen the grant application. Council voted to accept the CEDICOG agreement and to support the grant application and project planning. Officials stressed that later phases and actual construction will depend on securing additional funding and that phasing is a common approach to increase competitiveness for follow-on grants.
The approval authorizes city staff to enter into the CEDICOG agreement for CDBG administration. The meeting record shows the council approved the motion; the administration said project-specific costs and detailed timelines will be developed as grant applications and partner commitments progress.
