The Economic Development Committee moved through a slate of appointments and reappointments and confirmed several candidates with no recorded objections.
Beth Handel introduced herself as owner of Milwaukee Kayak Company in the Harbor District and said the business is entering its fourteenth summer; the committee confirmed her appointment to Business Improvement District No. 51. The committee noted the reappointment of John Rosito (absent) and confirmed the reappointment of David Stegman, whose service and local investments committee members praised.
Colleen Chaney Tewinski was reappointed to BID No. 51; she said she is active on the South Side and in sister-city work. The committee confirmed Erin Fonseca, who described a background as an artist and manager of after-school arts programming for Milwaukee Recreation, for appointment to the Milwaukee Arts Board. Melissa Mueller, a fund-development consultant and long-time community arts organizer, was also confirmed to the Arts Board. The committee held the appointment of Marissa Yugao to the Emerging Youth Achievement Advisory Council until a later time because the nominee was not present.
Each appointment and reappointment was moved and approved with no objection; the chair closed the items and thanked nominees for their willingness to serve.
