Votes at a glance: council approves permits, special event and bridge agreement

The Lincoln Park City Council recorded several unanimous votes at its May 3 meeting.

Consent agenda: The council approved minutes from the April 13, 2026 meeting, accounts and claims payable, auto-dealer license renewals and scheduling of study and public-hearing dates for the 2026–27 budget.

Block party: Council approved a permit for the 1600 block of Cleveland (Howard to Den Inn) for May 9, 2026, subject to barricading both ends, closure to vehicular traffic, an end time of 9 PM or dusk, and police direction on reopening.

Special event: A multi-day Detroit Metro tent revival at Pond Park in June 2026 was approved with conditions including applicant cleanup responsibilities and a prohibition on alcohol; a councilmember confirmed the police department had no reservations.

Harrison Street Bridge: Council approved a draft cost-sharing agreement with MDOT for the Harrison Street Bridge (structure no. 12498) and authorized the mayor and city clerk to sign documents to finalize the agreement. John Kazoo presented the draft and described the listed local amounts as preliminary contingencies.
