The Caroline County Board of License Commissioners approved a temporary alcoholic-beverage license for Downtown Dentin Main Street's annual "Supper at Sunset" and agreed to a three-year authorization pending completion of required paperwork.
Staff introduced Jessica Willoughby as director of Downtown Denton and said the organization submitted an application, site plan and a town-approved special-events application. Staff and Willoughby said the event historically draws about 100 attendees. The application listed the event time online as 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., but commissioners and staff discussed allowing a 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. window to include setup; the board's motion used the 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. timeframe and included a rain date of May 30.
Willoughby described logistics: the event will be down the middle of Main Street with town-provided barricades, a ticketed drink for attendees and a subsequent cash bar; existing "no alcohol beyond this point" signage was noted. A board member asked whether restaurants would staff service sensibly; Willoughby said beverage service will include drink tickets and a cash bar thereafter.
A commissioner moved to approve the May 29, 2026 event (rain date 5/30/2026) from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and to grant three-year authorization subject to completion of the three-year application. Another commissioner seconded and the motion passed on a voice vote; no roll-call tally was recorded in the transcript.
Staff told the applicant she need not sign a physical copy at the meeting and that the approval letter would be issued after administrative completion of the three-year form.
