Board approves licensed-premise expansion and three-year authorization for Greensboro Volunteer Fire Company events

The Caroline County Board of License Commissioners approved the Greensboro Volunteer Fire Company's request to expand the licensed-premise area for multiple 2026 tractor-pull events and authorized a three-year expansion upon completion of the required three-year application.

Board staff said the VFC provided written requests and site plans for outdoor events. The representative who spoke identified himself for the record as Larry Davidson and described a fenced site that would include beverage stations, a food trailer and permanent fencing in portions of the property.

Commissioners discussed server training and supervision: some servers will be TIPs-certified and those certified staff will supervise others who are not. Board members also raised the need to search coolers and prevent attendees from leaving with alcohol. The applicant said the VFC has handled past incidents and has permanent fencing in place in some locations.

A commissioner moved to approve the tractor-pull dates (May 2, June 6 and Sept. 5, 2026, with the listed hours) and to approve the three-year expansion of the licensed-premise area upon completion of the application; another commissioner seconded and the motion passed on a voice vote, with no roll-call tally recorded in the transcript.

Staff asked the representative to coordinate on the three-year application to avoid returning to the board annually for routine events.
