Cheshire council approves sale of town parcel at 422 North Brooksville Road

The Town of Cheshire voted unanimously April 28 to sell town-owned property at 422 North Brooksville Road to Vincenzo Buono Tempo under resolution 042826-1.

Miss Kramer presented the resolution on the council chamber floor and the town manager, Sean Kimball, summarized the background: the property was acquired by the town a few years ago at auction for roughly $205,000 and later subdivided to support the Norton School project. Kimball said the town solicited offers and accepted the highest bid of $251,000. "This was the best offer at $251,000," Kimball said, noting the sale yields more than the town paid and that proceeds will also settle $10,000–$15,000 of tax-foreclosure obligations associated with the parcel.

Councilor Walsh praised the approach of subdividing the parcel and said keeping the existing house on the lot benefits both the purchaser and the town. After brief questions and confirmation of the transaction authority, Mayor Talbot called the vote and the motion passed unanimously.

The resolution authorizes the town manager and other proper officers to execute the purchase-and-sale agreement and deeds necessary to close the transaction. Council minutes indicate a copy of the contract or a summary will be incorporated into the meeting minutes.
