Marple Newtown honors HiQ national champions, FBLA competitors and National Merit finalists

The Marple Newtown School Board recognized several student achievements during its April 28 meeting.

Mr. Tyler Mertens (speaker 7) presented the Future Business Leaders of America competitors, noting the chapter’s strong season and listing students who advanced and placed in state competition. "FBLA offers 70 different events...of our approximately 50 students in our chapter at Widener this year, 28 of them advanced from Widener to the state level competition in Hershey," Mertens said, then introduced individual student awardees.

Mrs. Liz Landis (speaker 10) presented the Marple Newtown High Q team as national champions, praised the students for their commitment and noted the team brought home the Donna Derby trophy and the Henderson Cup. Landis named team members and said the students will likely be invited to the Pennsylvania State Capitol for recognition in early June. The board also noted two National Merit finalists, Isla Lam and Tristan Big (as stated in the meeting record).

The board will bring awardees back for photos and recognized advisors for their work. No formal votes were required for the commendations.
