The Murfreesboro City Schools Board approved two procurement contracts on April 28 aimed at safety and classroom accessibility.
Transportation: Dr. Duke recommended purchasing 25 replacement school-bus camera systems from Mid South Bus Center through a cooperative Metro Nashville contract (7624959) at a unit cost of $4,330 and a total not-to-exceed price of $110,000. He said the equipment are replacements and upgrades, are budgeted in the current operational plan, and must be delivered, installed and invoiced by June 30.
Classroom audio: The board also approved a $77,987 contract with Beacon Technologies for 44 classroom audio enhancement units and ClearBridge systems to support instructional access and translation services in Title I schools (Black Fox, Hobgood, Northfield Scales and central office). Dr. Duke said the purchase is funded through Title I federal dollars.
Both contracts were approved by voice vote. Implementation tasks include procurement, installation, and confirmation of invoicing timelines. Transportation and instructional-technology staff will coordinate roll-out and report back to the board on completion.
