Committee advances nomination of Cecil Duvall to Oklahoma Tourism and Recreation Commission

The Senate Economic Development, Workforce and Tourism Committee on an 8-0 vote approved the nomination of Cecil Duvall of JYNX to a six-year term on the Oklahoma Tourism and Recreation Commission.

Cecil Duvall, introduced to the committee by Senator Reinhardt, told members he loves Oklahoma and its outdoors and said he has "a servant's heart," adding he is "excited to learn" the responsibilities of the commission. Senator Reinhardt described Duvall's background in the trades, saying Duvall became a licensed plumber at 21, built Duval Plumbing into a large Tulsa-area company and later sold it. Reinhardt urged committee members to support the nomination.

The committee chair asked if there were questions; none were offered, and Senator Reinhardt closed by again urging a yes vote. The clerk then conducted a roll call: Senators Fricks, Gillespie, Green, Guthrie, Kurt, Coleman, Thompson and Woods were recorded as voting aye, producing a tally of 8 ayes and 0 nays. The chair announced the committee had approved the nomination and said it will be forwarded to the full Senate for confirmation.

No agencies, statutes, or formal objections were raised during the exchange, and no amendments or conditions were placed on the nomination. The committee adjourned after the vote.
