Greg Holland, introduced at the meeting as Houston County's revenue commissioner, told residents that Thursday the 30th is the last day to pay property taxes before delinquencies move to a tax-lien auction scheduled to begin Monday morning at 9:00 a.m.
Holland said the county has moved its tax-lien sale to an online platform used by many counties and urged residents to register to bid. "You can go to govease.com, and they, they have training videos to show you how to bid, how to register," he said, and added that the county website (houstoncountyal.gov/revenue) links to GovEase for registration.
Nut graf: The revenue office framed the change as an administrative shift from an in-person sale to an online process and emphasized the payment deadline to avoid parcels going to auction. Holland noted the online auction platform is already used by a large share of counties in the state.
What residents need to know: pay delinquent taxes by the end of day Thursday to avoid the auction; register on GovEase or via the county revenue page to participate in the online sale. Holland said the auction process will open for bid registration starting Monday at 9:00 a.m.
What’s next: The revenue office is administering the auction and did not announce additional local assistance dates or waivers during the meeting.
