The Perry County Fiscal Court on April 29 approved a series of routine financial actions and infrastructure draw requests while also advancing leases and contracts tied to local tourism and public safety.
The court authorized payment for draw number 2 on the Rowdy Trailhead and Campground project for $40,487.10 and approved a two-year lease with Leatherwood Off Road Rentals LLC for $12,000. The chair said Leatherwood Off Road Park has spurred new businesses and tourism growth.
The court also approved a lease with David and Donna Costello to host a communications tower intended to improve radio signal for the volunteer fire department. The chair described the tower as improving response capability for volunteer first responders.
Infrastructure draws approved included $229,702.49 for SkyView Water and Sewer Infrastructure (draw 13) and $79,304.65 for Upper 2nd Creek Sanitary Sewer Phase 1; funding sources for those draws were identified in the meeting as ARC, KIA and CDBG grants. The court approved draw 1 for the Prairie County Chavis Sewer Extension Project (CDBG) for $131,875.
The court awarded demolition and clearance services tied to an NRCS EWP buyout at 299 Ladder Branch Road to Campbell Design LLC for $17,900. A resolution was approved authorizing the judge/executive to purchase a parcel described in exhibit A pursuant to KRS 67-0801(b)(1), not to exceed $56,000, if the property becomes available; the chair said the acquisition would support a tourism package connected to the Rowdy campground.
Votes were taken by voice for each motion. Motions and seconding speakers were recorded in the minutes, commonly identified as "Motion by Church" and seconded by "Spencer," with other seconds noted as Combs and Cones where recorded. The meeting record shows motions carried on unanimous voice votes (recorded as 'Aye' or 'All 4').
What happens next: The draw and contract approvals allow project work and vendor agreements to proceed; the resolution authorizing a potential land purchase gives the judge/executive authority to act if the parcel becomes available.
