Linn County appoints interim fire chief and interim emergency management coordinator, approves interim pay changes

During the meeting the chair moved to appoint interim leadership for fire and emergency management after a resignation. The commission appointed Brian Shroyer as interim fire chief and Linda Simmons as interim emergency management coordinator, then approved pay adjustments for the interim roles.

Later in the meeting commissioners approved pay changes tied to the interim assignments. Commissioners moved to change Brian Shroyer's pay from the grade referenced on the record to a higher grade and to set an hourly rate as read during the meeting. The commission then approved a grade-and-rate increase for Linda Simmons as recorded. Commissioners said they will follow up on salary and position details in executive session and in subsequent meetings; they also said they will split duties for the combined fire-chief/emergency-management posting if hired permanently.
