During the House’s morning hour, members paused legislative business to recognize several ceremonial items and guests in the chamber.
A resolution designating the day as Domestic Violence Prevention and Advocacy Day highlighted the need for services, legal protections and resources for victims; members invited Mariah Wineski, introduced in the chamber as the executive director of the Louisiana Coalition Against Domestic Violence, and thanked her and her staff for their work.
Another member presented a resolution commemorating the 100th anniversary of Guaranty Corporation, recounting its founding by George A. Foster Sr. in Pollock, Grant Parish, and noting the company’s multi‑generational role in local economies and media.
The House also welcomed students from FFA and 4‑H and adopted a resolution designating April 28 as Louisiana 4‑H and FFA Day at the state capitol, praising both organizations for youth leadership and agricultural education across the state’s parishes.
Members offered customary welcome remarks and the session proceeded to legislative business.
