Parks staff walked council through several projects advanced from last year’s retreat.
Hollow Lake Park: Parks staff said the $2.5 million project will be a "destination" park with a large footprints, ADA features and a mix of artificial turf and poured‑in‑place surfacing. Design is scheduled to finish in June, with construction to start after McGrath Park construction begins.
Love Street splash pad: Staff reported the Love Street splash pad is a $490,000 project with design finished in December, construction started in February and an anticipated opening at the end of the month, about a month ahead of schedule and on‑budget.
McGrath Park: Staff described a $700,000 Texas Parks & Wildlife matched project that includes a concrete skate park and playground upgrades; final design is near completion and construction timing depends on the state district's approval, with staff targeting a September start subject to TPW approval.
Council members asked about accessibility and components; staff emphasized ADA components throughout the new park designs and noted community input informed many design features.
What’s next: staff will finalize design choices, pursue TPW district approvals for McGrath Park, and coordinate grand‑opening opportunities with council participation.
