PSJA ISD board appoints Romel Robles to fill Trustee Place 2

The Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Independent School District Board of Trustees on Monday appointed Romel Rosendo Robles Jr. to fill the vacancy in Trustee Place 2 and administered the oath of office.

The board called for a motion under the Texas Education Code, Trustee Villegas moved to nominate Robles and Miss Castillo seconded; the motion passed and board leadership administered the statutory oath. Robles identified himself during the ceremony as "Romel Rosendo Robles Jr." and pledged to "faithfully execute the duties of school board trustee place 2 ... and to preserve, protect and defend the constitutions and laws of the United States and this state."

Trustees and administrators welcomed Robles, who said he was "humbled by this opportunity" and described a long history of community service including volunteer firefighting and prior board and civic involvement. Several trustees praised his background as a teacher and CTE coordinator and said they expected him to focus on students and teamwork as he joins board work.

The swearing-in concluded with a group photograph and brief comments from board members expressing appreciation for Robles's willingness to serve. No substantive policy action occurred during the oath-taking itself; the appointment and oath were procedural steps to fill the vacant seat.

The appointment followed the board’s announced process under board policy and state statute for filling vacancies and will be reflected in the district’s official minutes.
