Missus Sanders, reporting for the finance committee at the Garden City Board of Education meeting on April 27, said the committee reviewed recent procurement decisions made to avoid anticipated price increases and flagged upcoming board action on a lease amendment.
"He did receive the lease amendment. It will be reviewed and presented in the board packet for the May 11 meeting, and the board will come to a board vote in June," Missus Sanders said about a Crown Castle lease amendment. The finance committee also reviewed first-quarter investment income and the district's debt-service account.
Missus Sanders described district purchases made in advance of expected cost increases: 350 teacher desktops bought from the general fund; 300 Clever Touch instructional displays; 300 new instructional Chromebooks; and 650 student Chromebooks acquired from a new syncing fund intended for Farmington students. The committee reported procurement of two replacement/additional buses for the 2026–27 school year with expected delivery in October; the bus purchase will be brought to the board for a vote on May 11.
The committee characterized the purchases as forward-looking steps to lock in capacity and pricing; any lease amendment or capital purchase will return to the full board for formal action. Board members were informed of the purchases and upcoming packet items; no public comments were received on these matters during the meeting.
