Riviera Beach approves $1.35 million EMS equipment purchase

The Riviera Beach City Council approved Resolution 28-26 on April 27 authorizing the mayor and city clerk to execute a purchase contract for emergency medical services equipment from Stryker through the Savvik (Savick/Savvik) buying group, not to exceed $1,350,000. The purchase agreement will be paid over five years at approximately $266,031.20 per year.

Assistant Fire Chief Alvin described the equipment package as including Lifepak 35s (defibrillators), AEDs, powered stretchers and power-load systems, automatic stair chairs and related accessories; he asked the council for approval and noted the purchase would modernize EMS response equipment.

There was no public comment on the item. The council moved and approved the resolution unanimously.

Why it matters: The equipment will replace aging EMS apparatus and affect the fire-rescue department's capacity to respond to medical emergencies.
