Public Works committee approves OpenGov contract, street sweeping and water-tower engineering

The Public Works & Utilities Committee on April 27 approved three agenda items meant to sustain operations and infrastructure: continued use of the OpenGov asset‑management platform, a street‑sweeping services contract and engineering for recoating a water tower.

Staff described the OpenGov contract (formerly Cartograph) as the village’s asset‑management and service‑request platform and said it integrates with the village GIS; the committee approved a three‑year contract not to exceed $275,482. A trustee raised budget‑timing questions (noting the annual allocation in the budget would slightly trail the contract total) and staff said future requests will reflect contracted amounts.

The committee also approved a three‑year street‑sweeping contract with Lakeshore Recycling Services (LRS) for up to $455,482. Staff said LRS was the sole bidder and has performed the service for the past eight years; the committee discussed reviewing in‑house or hybrid options in the future and the logistics of rotation and maintenance.

Finally, the committee approved an engineering agreement with KLM Engineering of Woodbury, Minnesota, not to exceed $89,480, for design and construction inspection work to recoat Water Tower T2. Staff said the work is planned for a fall construction window to avoid peak demand and that the firm’s proposal was competitively priced for engineering services.

All three items passed by voice vote. Staff will follow up on budget timing and next steps for procurement and scheduling.
