Lieutenant Jason Williams presented a reimbursable grant application on April 13 seeking $52,769.48 from the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute (ICJI) and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to fund the Sheriff’s Office Click It To Live It (CITLI) and Comprehensive Highway Injury Reduction Program (CHIRP) enforcement activities.
Williams said the grant would fund overtime patrols focused on impaired driving, speeding, seat-belt enforcement, aggressive driving and school-bus stop-arm violations. The grant period in the application runs from Oct. 1, 2026, through Sept. 30, 2027. Commissioner Carl H. Lienhoop moved to approve the application; Commissioner Larry S. Kleinhenz seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
The application is reimbursable, meaning overtime costs would be incurred by the Sheriff’s Office and then reimbursed if the grant is awarded. The transcript does not include details on match requirements or contingency plans if the grant is not awarded.
