Oklahoma County board approves five-year manufacturers exemption report

The Oklahoma County Board of Equalization approved a 2026 five-year manufacturers exemption report after hearing a presentation from the assessor’s personal property section.

Chad, assistant manager in the assessor’s personal property section, told the board the report records new and existing XM accounts and describes several real-estate exemption applications. He noted that applications for exemptions are subject to the Oklahoma Tax Commission’s final approval and that certain accounts (for example, some real-estate accounts) are being handled as exemptions this year.

Board members asked questions about the geographic location of affected facilities and about how the county and state roles separate in the review. Chad said the county records the applications and forwards files for the Tax Commission’s inspection and final decision; on the XM‑1 category the Tax Commission conducts physical inspections.

A board member moved to approve the report “as presented”; another member seconded and the board voted in favor with vocal ayes. Chair Eleanor Thompson confirmed the action and thanked staff.

The approval directs assessor staff to continue processing exemption applications and to submit files to the Tax Commission where statutorily required. The board did not make any final determinations that would override the state commission’s review.
