Council honors outgoing members Aaron Burdick and Paul Williams with resolutions

The Janesville City Council on April 13 adopted two resolutions honoring departing members.

The council presented Resolution 2026-2434 recognizing Aaron Burdick for service from 2022–2026, citing leadership roles (vice president and president), council accomplishments during his tenure including the Woodman Sports and Convention Center, TIF support for housing, the Palmer Wading Pool reconstruction, and water-service lead-line replacements. The resolution was moved, seconded and passed 6 yes with one abstention by Council President Burdick.

Later the council considered Resolution 2026-2435 recognizing Paul Williams for his service (most recently 2016–2026 with earlier service from 2000–2008), his committee work and volunteer service. Council members praised Williams’ institutional knowledge and mentorship. Williams spoke to thank colleagues, staff and family, reflected on public service and the work of city employees, and said he would continue to be engaged as a citizen. The resolution passed 6 yes with one abstention by Council member Williams.

Both resolutions were read aloud by the clerk and followed by brief remarks from colleagues expressing appreciation. The council paused for photographs following Burdick’s recognition.
