Brentwood commission unanimously rezones 2001 Shamrock Drive for religious institution use

The Brentwood Board of Commissioners unanimously approved Ordinance 2026-4 on second and final reading to rezone property at 2001 Shamrock Drive from R2 Suburban Residential to SI1 Service Institution (religious use).

Commissioners said the rezoning had generated public comment focused primarily on potential traffic impacts to Shamrock Drive. "The only ... comment was concerning traffic that might be coming in on Shamrock Drive," Commissioner Donahue said; planning staff told the commission they had proposed changing the property address or routing information so GPS directions would bring traffic from Old Hickory Boulevard into the site parking area rather than through Shamrock Drive.

The planning commission had already reviewed the request and recommended approval to the City Commission; no significant opposition was recorded in the planning report read into the record. After brief discussion, the mayor called for the vote and the ordinance passed on a unanimous voice vote.

Next steps: The rezoning will take effect according to the city's ordinance adoption rules and any required administrative steps to update records and address information will be handled by planning staff.
