County staff report building appraisals, maintenance plans and property walkthroughs

Jamie (staff) told the board that county insurance representatives were conducting building walkthroughs and appraisals of county-owned property this week and that the work had already covered the fairgrounds and additional county facilities.

"You guys have our gun deal, I'm sure you've got $625 as of this morning," Jamie said, noting an upcoming auction close date. Jamie also reported that the county has worked with the appraisal firm Corsa to identify newly added buildings and items that will require follow-up documentation, including generator specifications and costs of goods purchased.

Jamie said the county had contracted Mitchell's to provide tailgate service and planned to rent a skid steer with a brush hog to clear properties quickly. Staff discussed access needs for sites including Chesterville, wastewater treatment plants and lift stations, and agreed to follow up on site keys and fence access as part of the inspection visits.

Commissioners asked procedural questions about access and sequencing but no formal direction or policy votes were recorded on the appraisals or maintenance contracting during the session. Staff indicated a 'homework' list will be prepared to collect remaining details after the site visits.

The meeting then recessed and later returned before adjournment.
