Highway Superintendent Scott Huppert reported to the Dodge County Board Oct. 30 that he is not satisfied with the overlay work completed on old Highway 275 and has identified several defects the contractor will fix before the end of the year.
Huppert said county crews continue to remove cornstalks from ditches as part of FEMA‑reimbursable work and are installing snow fences, a process that takes roughly a week. He also said projects on Platte River Road remain incomplete but that the State plans to finish them by year‑end. A new dump truck was delivered to Fremont and is having a snowplow attached; an older truck will be sold at Nitz Auction in December.
Huppert also told the board about new road‑repair products and culvert‑life extensions he learned about at a roads conference in Sioux Falls. Bridge inspections are ongoing.
The board received NDOT year‑end certification correspondence during the session; no enforcement action or formal dispute with the contractor was recorded beyond the superintendent’s plan to pursue fixes.
