The Dodge County Board convened as the Board of Equalization at 10:00 a.m. Oct. 30 and recorded multiple items from the Nebraska Tax Equalization and Review Commission (TERC), including notices of appeal for several property owners and amended hearing orders. County Attorney Hopkins recommended the board receive and refer the TERC correspondence to his office for handling.
The board accepted an offer to confess judgment and an acceptance of an offer related to Helen Einspahr in several appeal cases; County Attorney Hopkins said the parties mediated the matters and that assessor personnel will be allowed to enter premises for future valuation work.
The board also approved exemptions from motor‑vehicle taxes for a 2006 Pace enclosed trailer for Church of the Nazarene (960 N. Johnson Rd) and for a 2018 flatbed trailer and a 2019 Chevrolet cargo van for the Dodge County Humane Society (787 S. Luther Rd).
On a separate item, the board approved a six‑year service contract with Vanguard Appraisals, Inc. for backup appraisal‑data services in the Assessor’s Office; Supervisor Backens recorded the lone dissent. The board also adopted an amendment to the 2024‑2025 tax levies to add Logan View Public Schools to JPA Pathways 2 Tomorrow, affecting levies for Hooper, Nickerson, Uehling and Winslow.
Minutes list case numbers and actions but do not include contract dollar amounts for the Vanguard agreement or the specific financial impacts of the levy amendment.
