Tama County adopts FY2026–27 budget and sets $13.5 million property tax levy

The Tama County Board of Supervisors adopted the county’s 2026–27 fiscal-year budget on April 20 and approved a total property tax levy of $13,507,904, an increase of $414,630 from the prior year, the board recorded.

Supervisor Curt Hilmer moved to approve the levy and budget, and Supervisor David Turner seconded the motion. The board adopted RESOLUTION 4-20-2026A by unanimous roll call vote (Hilmer, Turner, Knebel, Doland and Kupka voting aye).

The board opened a public hearing on the proposed budget at 8:58 a.m. and closed it at 8:59 a.m.; the minutes state there were no written comments and no members of the public spoke. The resolution directs the budget be certified and filed with the Tama County Auditor as required by law.

The board also approved the minutes of its April 13 meeting and accepted the Auditor’s Quarterly Report during the same session.

The budget adoption sets the county’s levy and authorizes staff to carry out the certification and filing steps required under Iowa law. The minutes note no additional amendments or public objections at the hearing.
