Bogalusa board approves revised March budget, adopts 2026 millage rates and $500 gas stipend for contracted bus drivers

Miss Walker presented the March 2026 revised budgets and financial statements, saying routine budget revisions are required when line items change by 5% and noting federal program adjustments are included. She told the board the budgets are working documents and certain line items were closed out or adjusted to reflect current activity.

The board voted to approve the revised March 2026 budget after a motion and second. Miss Walker then read the annual millage resolution aloud, as required by state law, listing several levies to be placed on the 2026 tax roll for purposes including construction, operations, salaries and maintenance. Separately, Miss Walker asked the board to approve a one-time $500 gas stipend for contracted bus operators who drive their own buses to help offset elevated fuel costs. Board members moved and approved the stipend by roll call. Miss Walker said the stipend applies only to drivers who contract and operate their own vehicles, not drivers using district-owned buses.

Board members did not record extended public comment on these items; roll-call votes were taken for the budget, the millage resolution and the stipend.

The millage resolution will be transmitted and applied to the 2026 assessment roll as required by law; the district indicated administrative staff will complete the statutory steps for collection and enforcement.
