Lacey honors longtime Captain's Inn owner and highlights free library programs

The Lacey Township Committee opened its April meeting by recognizing National Library Week and presenting a key to the city to Debbie Abramovich Kaye, the longtime owner of the Captain’s Inn, in honor of her community service and retirement.

Mayor Stephen Kennis read the proclamation naming April 2026 National Library Week and then presented the key to Debbie Abramovich Kaye. Committee members offered personal tributes, calling her a cherished part of the community and thanking her for years of service and hospitality.

Chris Somenatore, a librarian at the Lacey branch of the Ocean County Library System, told the committee about a slate of free programs in May: a May 7 2 p.m. mental‑health resource session with St. Francis Counseling, a May 7 6:30 p.m. Bayarna Dance Duo event honoring Jewish American Heritage Month, and a May 17 1 p.m. K‑pop dance program for all ages. He asked residents to register through the Ocean County Library website (www.theoceancountylibrary.org).

In remarks tied to the recognition, the committee also thanked volunteers and noted upcoming community events, including a volunteer fair April 30 at Community Hall.
