Committee strips program‑integrity language from SF 43‑99 and lays bill over

The Minnesota Senate Judiciary Committee on Tuesday adopted the A9 amendment to the A4 amendment on Senate File 43‑99, removing the bill’s program‑integrity provisions and laying the measure over for further work.

Chair Latson told members the program‑integrity language was still being negotiated and “at such time as those working on it reach an agreement…that language will come back before this committee at a subsequent meeting.” Senator Uma Verbentin moved adoption of the A9 amendment, and the committee voice‑voted the amendment as adopted.

Committee aides and the chair said the changes delete Article 1 (the program‑integrity article) and remove several sections of Article 2 and a section in Article 3 tied to program‑integrity provisions. The chair added that related amendments that focused on program integrity — including language about challenging withholding of payments — would not be taken up today and will be returned for further consideration.

The committee also adopted the A4 amendment as amended after previously approving A5 and A6. After those votes, the chair laid Senate File 43‑99 as amended over for future consideration.
