Mayor Springer introduced Carrie Barr as the city's interim clerk/treasurer and asked her to describe her background. Barr said she graduated from the University of Washington in business administration and accounting, has extensive experience in cost accounting and budgeting systems, and previously worked in corporate finance roles.
"I'm really looking forward to working here in the city, putting some good systems and processes in place that are reportable and repeatable," Barr told the council. Mayor Springer said all council members except one had met Barr and tonight the council would consider confirming her appointment.
A motion to confirm Barr passed by unanimous voice vote. Barr will serve in an interim capacity while the city continues to fill other positions and address administrative priorities including overdue reporting for the water system and state-required submissions.
Councilors welcomed Barr and thanked staff for vetting candidates; Barr said she would work with public works and other departments to modernize reporting and financial processes.
