Conservation Commission approves waivers and issues order of conditions for 27 Perry Drive

The Needham Conservation Commission voted April 23 to approve a waiver for native plantings in the 50-foot no-disturb buffer at 27 Perry Drive and to waive the associated fee, then issued the order of conditions for DEP file 234-964.

Staff presented a draft order that included a retaining wall plan, tree removal facts, restoration planting requirements (16 replacement shrubs and seven replacement trees), a pre-construction meeting and a dewatering plan. The northernmost red maple was addressed by the project arborist and will be left as a 10-foot snag where appropriate. Two-year monitoring of the restoration plantings was included in the conditions.

Commissioners agreed to vote on the waivers and the order together; the motion to grant the waiver and waive the fee passed by roll call. The motion to issue the order of conditions also passed unanimously.

What happens next: The applicant will carry out the work under the submitted plans subject to the order of conditions and monitoring. Staff will ensure monitoring and recording requirements are completed as work progresses.
