Council considered an IBC tag application for Tristan Carlstrom, a building inspector in Port Angeles, who had applied for a planning/community development representation slot. Staff explained that no letter of recommendation from the City of Port Angeles planning department had been received and noted the tag chair’s concurrence with staff that the application should not be recommended without that documentation.
Council members debated whether to deny the application outright, take no action pending documentation, or defer to the executive committee. After discussion the council accepted a motion to take no action now — keeping the slot available if the applicant can provide a supporting letter — and the motion passed by voice vote. Chair thanked Tristan for volunteering and invited him to submit additional supporting materials for reconsideration.
What’s next: Staff will notify the applicant and will reintroduce the appointment to the executive committee or to the full council if a letter of support is submitted.
