County law department says municipalities will join Kearny in Superior Court action over helicopter noise

Commissioners heard repeated complaints about helicopter noise affecting neighborhoods along the Hudson River corridor and discussed a coordinated legal response. A county-law representative (speaker 11) said the litigation team has been working with municipal attorneys in Kearny, Jersey City, Bayonne and Hoboken on briefing and discovery, and that the petition will be shared with the litigation group before filing. A commissioner asked for a written memorandum outlining the status of the planned action, expected grounds and the anticipated filing timeline.

Commissioners said they have been receiving constituent emails about noise in multiple communities and requested that the law department contact other municipalities to ensure they are aware and can participate. The county representative said the litigation is in preparation and that substantive strategy discussions will remain internal to the litigation group until pleadings are ready to share.
