Millbrook Minute: prom, D.C. trip, talent show, testing reminders and CPR training

The Millbrook Central School District’s weekly Millbrook Minute highlighted student events, upcoming state tests and plans for schoolwide CPR instruction.

At the high school, Mr. Sipe said the week included mock trials, a college and career fair organized by Mr. Chinoski, home athletic events and the prom at the Links. He asked seniors to wear college-acceptance gear on Friday, May 1, and urged families to review the district’s Regents Boot Camp schedule ahead of Regents exams.

Middle-school news from Mr. Cabello noted an eighth-grade trip to Washington, D.C., where students visited landmarks including the Washington Monument, Lincoln Memorial and the White House; returning students completed the state science exam and will take ELA assessments next week. Mr. Cabello also highlighted National Library Week activities and praised Miss Thomasulo’s home base for winning a classroom quiz.

Mister Cedermark described a large talent show at Alden Place featuring dance, original piano and skits, and reminded families that English language arts testing for grades 3–5 begins Wednesday with math testing to follow the next week. He announced a Book Club celebration for students who completed the reading challenge and said the Kindness Club resumes April 29.

Doctor Watkins announced the April Blue Ribbon Blazer honoree, Colin Wolford, and said all four school buildings were acknowledged as Project Adam schools for completing CPR and AED training. Watkins said the district will work with New York State Trooper Ray Renzo to provide further CPR/AED training to middle- and high-school students during physical-education classes.

The bulletin closed with a districtwide thank-you to administrative staff and an invitation to attend the May 5 public budget hearing to review the proposed 2026–27 school-year budget.
