Tumwater School Board reads resolution honoring state-champion dance team

The Tumwater School District board opened its regular meeting by reading a resolution recognizing the Tumwater High School dance team for winning three state championships at the March 28 Yakima competition. Board member Casey Shaw read the resolution, which listed the teamscores: first in dance (270.7), first in hip hop (269.7) and first in pom (277.7).

"Whereas the board of directors of the Tumwater High School District number 33 would like to recognize the accomplishments of the 2025 Tumwater High School dance team," Shaw read as the board presented the text to the audience. The resolution noted the program's history and the leadership of eight seniors.

After the reading, the board invited the team to come forward for a quick photo and a bite-sized cupcake served by staff to mark the recognition. No formal roll-call vote was recorded in the meeting transcript; the board framed the action as a ceremonial recognition and brief celebration.
