Frontier Central board adopts traditional Erie 1 BOCES instructional calendar for 2026-27

Trustees agreed to amend the posted 2026–27 instructional calendar to align predominantly with the Erie 1 BOCES traditional schedule, including the two-week split February break and the district-observed spring holiday period. Dr. Castillo proposed the change and asked the board to consider the posted calendar versus pursuing the traditional BOCES alignment. "The amendment would be to include the alignment of the Erie 1 BOCES calendar predominantly, which would include the traditional February break," Dr. Castillo said.

Board members discussed contractual constraints with bargaining units and timing driven by Labor Day and other calendar anchors; trustees noted small tweaks would be necessary to meet collective bargaining obligations but that the two-week break pattern would remain intact. A motion to pursue the traditional Erie 1 BOCES calendar, with minor contractual adjustments as required, was moved and seconded and carried by voice vote. The district will post the adopted calendar on its website and include it in the Falcon Update.

The board emphasized that the calendar decision takes account of contractually required student days (180 student days) and that the administration will refine dates to accommodate bargaining-unit agreements before final publication.
