Board reviews handbook changes: late‑work rules, delivery limits and AI devices

District administration reported an attorney review of the parent and student handbook that eliminated redundancies, clarified alignment with board policy and school code, and added specific operational language.

Key changes described to the board include: an appendix for progressive discipline and a late‑work policy that requires missing assignments to be completed before summative assessments (students with 1–2 missing assignments will have time during advisory or study hall; students with three or more missing assignments will be assigned to a homework support program until work is completed). The administration also said independent food deliveries by third‑party services (for example, DoorDash, Grubhub, Jimmy John’s) will not be accepted; meals may only be delivered by a parent or guardian to minimize disruptions and ensure safety.

The handbook now includes language about unauthorized devices: new guidance names AI glasses (and earlier additions for smartwatches) as items that may be confiscated if used inappropriately because they record. The district also clarified ID expectations after noting issues with damaged or altered IDs.

The board approved the parent and student handbook for 2026–27 later in the meeting as part of action items.
