Board approves consent agenda, principal appointment and $51,398 concrete contract

The Evergreen Park ESD 124 Board of Education moved through a slate of action items in open session and approved multiple routine and project items by roll call.

Consent agenda: The board approved monthly transaction reports, fund balance reports for March 2026, expenditure and projected payroll reports for April 2026, board minutes for March 18, 2026, destruction of closed session tapes from December 2021, and personnel recommendations including three additions, three FMLA leaves and five resignations. The motion to approve the consent agenda was made and passed on roll call.

Personnel and appointments: The board approved the appointment of Kathleen Casperts as Southeast School principal; Casperts had submitted a written statement read into the record. The board also approved the summer school principal and several temporary and summer help personnel items.

Fees and contracts: The board approved extended day fees for 2026–27 (rates to remain the same) and approved a $0.25 increase per meal in food service prices for full lunches and breakfasts for 2026–27 consistent with state recommendations. The board approved a Natola Concrete Inc. proposal to repair and replace concrete at Southeast Elementary School for a total of $51,398; a roll call recorded affirmative votes and the motion passed.

Resolutions and scholarships: The board approved resolutions honoring retirees John Boynton, Valerie Worsham, Patty Burns Solomon, Kathleen Regan, Bridal, and Brian Decker, and approved Judy Mulcrone and B Evergreen scholarship recipients.

Closed session: The board recessed to closed session to discuss personnel, student placements and legal matters under cited Illinois code sections.
