Smyrna to close Front Street April 27–May 1 for pedestrian improvements, town says

Tom Rose of the Town of Smyrna said Front Street will be closed beginning Monday, April 27 at 8 a.m. through Friday afternoon, May 1, for pedestrian improvements including new crosswalks.

"Starting Monday, April 27 at 8AM, Front Street from Division Street to the roundabout will be closed for pedestrian improvements and the installation of crosswalks," Tom Rose said. He said the town expects the road to reopen on Friday afternoon, May 1.

Rose said the entrance to the long parking lot will be closed during the work but that the lot will remain accessible from the south exit only. He added that on-street parking will remain open on Front Street between Wright and College streets. Drivers should follow posted detour routes and allow extra travel time while the project is under way, he said.

The announcement did not specify the contractor, exact work hours each day, or whether lane closures will affect bus or emergency routes. The town’s advisory gave expected start and end dates and local access and parking guidance.
