Outgoing Mayor Greg Hall thanks Rio Rancho, council confirms deputy-mayor nomination to carry until next meeting

Mayor Greg Hall used his final regular meeting to thank staff, council and residents and to review the city’s achievements during his 12 years in office, including public-safety staffing, the aquifer recharge facility, road and park projects and the establishment of a permanent fund.

"Serving this community has been one of the greatest honors of my life," Mayor Greg Hall said, recounting investments in public safety, infrastructure and partnerships with employers including Intel. He thanked city staff, naming department chiefs and his wife Carrie, and closed by welcoming incoming Mayor Paul Weimer and asking the community to support the new administration.

Earlier in the meeting the council considered the selection of a deputy mayor. Councilor Tyler moved to continue Councilor Linnentine as deputy mayor until the next governing-body meeting; the motion was seconded and the body confirmed the nomination by voice vote. The city manager confirmed the nomination will be returned to the next agenda for formal action and a final vote.

The meeting concluded after council comments and a brief city-manager report on upcoming events. Mayor Hall adjourned the meeting, marking the end of his 12-year tenure.
