Dylan Evans, landfill manager, updated commissioners on flood-plain awareness work and an adapted task order with CDM Smith. Evans said the firm had already completed substantial HEC-RAS modeling and survey work, allowing the county to reduce the new scope and lower the fee from an original $232,450 estimate to about $204,750. He told the board he had directed CDM Smith to proceed and asked for timelines from the firm; staff expects the adjusted scope to be faster because prior modeling can be reused to support a state flood-plain loan application.
Evans also reported that the county’s contractor has not applied for permits yet and that community dump days have been scheduled with outreach materials distributed to cities and towns in the county. On a separate equipment-demo item (a machine demo discussed previously), Evans said the vendor is now operating and the county will make a site visit before a final purchase decision. Commissioners agreed staff could bring the task order forward for signature and record the savings on the project.
