Town staff says SITLA disconnection paperwork likely to be wrapped up after survey fixes

Town staff gave a technical update to the council on a pending SITLA disconnection request, saying the state surveyor's office had flagged inconsistencies in the earlier meets-and-bounds descriptions and that those items have been corrected.

"When they attempted ... to put that language into the meets and bounds, there was a discrepancy regarding the total acreage," the staff presenter said, describing how the town insisted on retaining a six-foot right-of-way along Bluff Bench Road and noting the corrected mapping now aligns with the town's agreement. The staff member said SITLA reworked the submission in-house, provided new shape files that the town can open, and the paperwork will next go to the lieutenant governor's office for final sign-off.

Staff said the revised acreage will result in a disconnection of roughly 5.307 acres from the town while the town retains about 8 acres and the six-foot right-of-way needed for road maintenance. The town also expects related surveys for nearby roads (including Copper Cliffs) to be completed by the first meeting in May.
