Sarah Fox, the SkillsUSA advisor at Clay High School, introduced student reporters who described combining competitive travel with community service at the Northwest Regional competitions on Feb. 13.
Students said that while at Apollo Career Center they used downtime to craft blankets for Warm Hearts, a local nonprofit; one student described founding or partnering with the nonprofit. The chapter received recognition as a 2026 SkillsUSA Gold Chapter of Distinction and several students qualified for state competitions in Columbus in May. The students credited club advisors and peers for their leadership development and community outreach.
Board members thanked the students for sharing their achievements and for highlighting student leadership and service.
The presentation underscored connections between career‑technical education, leadership experience and local community service.
