Jasper council approves event permits, authorizes bids and waives permit fee for training center

The Jasper City Council approved a set of routine permits and procurement actions and granted a permit fee waiver for a local training center during the meeting.

Jessica (staff) described two permit requests: a resource fair by Community Connections for Change to be held May 23 at Gamble Park (set-up at 10 a.m.; event 11 a.m.–2 p.m.), and a 5K mission-trip fundraiser submitted by Desperation Church on Saturday, June 13 at the Courthouse Square, with a requested closure of 3rd Avenue from 19th Street to 18th Street. After a motion and second, the council voted to approve the permits.

Jessica also asked for the council's permission to send bids for three contracts: physician services, on-call concrete services, and improvements to the animal shelter. The council approved the request to solicit bids.

Adam Bolton asked the council to waive the permit fee for the final phase of construction of the Alabama Energy Infrastructure Training Center; the council approved the waiver by motion and vote.

The council took these items with little discussion and approved motions by recorded voice votes. Staff will proceed with requested permitting, bid solicitations and the fee waiver implementation.
