Representatives for property owners Lorraine Scott and Linda Weier asked the board to allow retention of a 46-by-24-foot detached garage, bringing total accessory structure area to 1,680 square feet. Representative Tony Zirilli said the structure dates to about 1960 and has existed without adverse impacts for decades; the issue arose during a lot split review.
Board members described the request as straightforward. “To me, this kind of acts like a no-brainer,” one member said, citing the structure’s age and limited site impact. A motion to grant the dimensional variance and to waive the hard-surface driveway requirement was made, seconded and approved by roll call.
The board recorded the vote in favor and advised the applicants on next steps; the variance was granted and no follow-up conditions beyond standard permitting were included in the record.
