JTC introduces bill to allow electronic filing for Workers' Compensation proceedings

Chair Marchman introduced a CDLE bill "concerning updates to the Workers' Compensation Act of Colorado necessitated by technology updates" and asked drafter Nicole Myers of the Office of Legislative Legal Services to summarize it. Myers said the bill updates statutory language in the Division of Workers' Compensation to allow electronic mailing and filing of documents and other technical changes.

Vice Chair Titone moved that the committee introduce the draft (reported in committee as OLS number referenced during the meeting). The committee conducted a roll-call introduction vote; the members present voted to introduce the bill and the chair and leadership said they would start the bill in the Senate. Myers noted that delayed-bill permission may be required depending on the chamber and timing.

Committee members discussed co-sponsorship and requested that technical changes discussed in committee be incorporated before floor introduction if feasible. The drafter said legislative legal services may make technical modifications and offered to work with members and agency staff on final language.
